Choosing paint & wallpaper

Kitchens - Choosing paint & wallpaper

Back to index page

Now you've chosen the design of your kitchen cabinets and worktops, the next move is to choose the materials and the colours of your walls.

Paint - Paint is by far the cheapest and fastest way to transform the feeling of your kitchen, wallpaper is more expensive, but can give just a little more character with it's large variety of patterns.

Wallpapers - When you use wallpapers and paints for your kitchen walls, make sure these are especially made for the kitchen as these will be more resistant against humidity and will be easy to clean.

Colour - It depends on your own taste which colours you will choose, but contrasting colours work the best. The kitchen would look really bland if you would choose cream kitchen units and cream paint on the walls. Kitchens also lend themselves to bold colour statements. Decide which atmosphere you want to create in your kitchen and use the colour on your walls as the main contributor to this. After all, it is always easier to change the wall colour than your kitchen units!
