Different Choices
Flooring choices can have a huge effect on your room but it's often a
neglected area of design. Flooring can influence how a visitor sees the
size, shape, function and atmosphere of a room.
Changing the flooring
Changing flooring is not as expensive as you might think. Foam backed
carpets though less hard-wearing are cheaper to replace as fashions for
colour and texture alter; click-system wood-effect laminate looks similar
to real wood parquet but is cheaper; carpet off-cuts can be "edge-bound"
to create inexpensive rugs.
Fancy Flooring
To help make a room feel larger use a
contrasting border carpet around the edge of the room.
Staining Existing Floorings
Sanding and staining existing floorboards could be an option. Make
sure that all the floorboards are in good condition sand and then stain.
Stone Flooring in the bedroom
Lay a stone floor with underfloor heating to add to the sensual pleasure
of the room. This type of flooring is expensive but in the winter months
you climb out of bed on to a lovely warm floor and warm room. In the
summer months you in turn have a lovely cool and airy bedroom as the stone
flooring with be cool with heating off. Also all year round you have a
very hard wearing floor that is very easy to clean
