again either by postcode or street name. On offer here are details
about Council Tax rates, Top Schools, Crime statistics and

Homesight provided by Yell and Equifax, offers a broad
base of information including local area contacts such as,
solicitors, estate agents etc as well as property prices and

Knowhere is a rather different collection of reports,
comments and useful information on about 1,000 towns in
the UK, and its still growing!. Often frank and to the point,
this community created site is broadly written for and by, the
younger end of UK society. However, even if you are not so

Land Registry - This
is the official site for HM Land Registry who hold all
information on ownership of land in the UK. To visit the site go

Environmental Issues - Concerned
about any environmental issues that may affect the area you wish to live
in? Here are some sites that may be able to answer any questions you
may have.
Homecheck.co.uk is a really
useful site which presents environmental information in a very easy to
understand format. By simply keying in the postcode of a property, Home
Check will present an easy to read report with 'level indicator'
graphics for a whole range of environmental risks. The risks covered
include, flood, subsidence, radon, landslip, landfill, waste, air
quality and pollution. A site not to be missed!
At www.landmark-information.co.uk
you can now acquire a 'Home Envirosearch' Report which will provide a wealth
of information that could reveal for example, if your new home is built on land above old
mines or has had pollution problems in the past.
The Environment
Agency offer a bright, easy to use site with a great section
entitled 'What's in Your Backyard?' Here you can quickly locate major
industrial areas, check river and bathing water quality, so that that
you can see at a glance what environmental issues are affecting your

Pollution - If pollution issues are of concern, then there are

is the site of Friends of the Earth who offer a search facility to
locate and provide information about any factories they claim are

Watch Scheme - This site offers practical tips and information
on how to protect your home and car. There is also details on how to set
up your own Neighbourhood Watch scheme and claims to be one of the
largest crime prevention sites in the UK. Well worth a look. Visit the

Metropolitan Police, London - This site contains everything
you may need to know about the activities of the Metropolitan Police
force in London. The site features news, appeals, crime prevention tips
and a dedicated section targeting school-age visitors. Very useful
information here particularly for London residents or those moving into
