Dining Room - Choosing the lighting

Back to index page

Different types of lighting

Our Dining rooms our now multi-purpose spaces used for anything from hobbies to reading, dining, and entertaining. With a flexible lighting scheme, you can actually create the illusion of different spaces for different activities all within the same room.

Highlighting with light
The dining room is where accent lighting really comes into its own: use it to highlight collections of books, glass, pictures, plants, ornaments or just one cherished piece to make a real statement.

The main light
Adapt your overhead central light, which casts unflattering shadows in the room. Either extend its flex - a simple job - or put in low voltage lights to detract attention from it.

Wall lights
Mount wall lights in alcoves or either side of a fireplace - features that won't be moving.
