With its historical wine houses and cellars, Burgundy is a region that positively celebrates world famous wines.
The capital of Burgundy is Dijon is easily reached by road or TGV from Paris and attracts wine enthusiasts from all around the World as a first stop on a tour of the many wine routes in the region.

Just outside of Dijon is Vezeley, the site of the Ste. Madeleine Basilica, one of the greatest medieval sites in Europe. South of Dijon is the medieval town of Beaune, which is host to France's most famous wine auction in the Hotel Dieu each November.
If you wish to tour the region by boat, take the Burgundy Canal. Along the canal route are the towns of Laroche Migennes, Montbard, St Florentin, St Jean De Losne, Tonnerre and Veneray les Laumes.
In the town of Beaune is the Hospice d' Beaune, a fascinating museum showing the perils of being ill over 100 years ago.
Avalon is located approximately 80km from Dijon and sits in the Yonne Valley. A quiet location ideal for walking and relaxation.
